Oldest sister, surf instructor + massage therapist
I am a free spirit. I love the water, I love to surf and teach others how to surf. I get so passionate to share my love of surfing and the ocean with others, especially other women. It brings me great joy to show women how to navigate the ocean and flow with the waves in each of our own unique ways.
A bit about me:
I grew up always the last one to get out of the water, whether it was a lake, pool or the ocean. The water has been my special place, the one place where I can always go to feel totally free and to be me.
When I was 17 I moved to Kauai with my sisters and I went to massage school and fell in love instantly.I knew right then and there, I had found another passion. When I’m not running surf retreats or with my daughter I spend my time doing bodywork. I love connecting with others from a present space.
Love you ALL, Let's SURF
COCO
Founder & Trip Leader
Surf Instructor / Certified yoga teacher
Currently living + surfing in Costa Rica
Middle sister, surf instructor + yoga instructor
She has been surfing for over 20 years and has taught surfing in the US Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, Australia, Morocco, Puerto Rico, and along the East Coast of America. She received a diploma in sports management/ surfing studies in 2009 at Southern Cross University, Queensland New South Wales, Australia.
Though years of experience in the water have made her a confident surfer, her favorite part of Sister Surf is something softer and louder at once: guiding women out of their comfort zones and watching them break down their own barriers in the ocean. She loves the small, fierce moments — a hand gripped tighter than usual on a board, a hesitant smile that turns into a laugh when a wave approaches them, the first triumphant cry after standing up. Those moments are the real waves we chase.
She loves sunsets, running on the beach, being barefoot, coconuts, and hunting for perfect waves and empty lineups.
Currently, she resides in Northern Costa Rica with her twin flame of 18 years and their little girl Izabel Rose.
CHELSEA
Founder &Trip Leader
Surf Instructor / Aspiring artist
Currently living + surfing in Puerto Rico
Baby sister, surf instructor + artist
Chelsea pretty much grew up in the ocean. Being from a place like St. John, US Virgin Islands it would be hard not to love the sea! It's like growing up in water world. She spent a lot of time sailing as a kid but wasn't until the age of 12 that she started surfing with Marjie & Coco. Once they started surfing it was ON! Surfing has taken Chelsea all over the world to places like Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Hawaii, Australia, Puerto Rico, California & Mexico. Australia is where the girls went to university to study Sports Management Surfing Studies. This is where they became certified surf coaches and where the retreat idea sparked! She has been teaching surfing for over 10 years and always has so much enthusiasm and patience in the water. She'll have you smiling and surfing better before you know it! Just two years ago Chelsea and Marjie competed in the ISA World Surfing Games in Nicaragua, they were the first two women to ever compete representing the US Virgin Islands. A super proud moment for them and their home. That trip got them so inspired and fired up to continue to improve their own surfing skills as well as others. When Chelsea is not teaching at the retreat you can find her surfing, adventuring and painting beautiful things by the sea in Puerto Rico where she now lives with her husband Raul.
Built Around Confidence.
Every retreat is designed around one core outcome: helping you feel capable.
Capable in the ocean.
Capable in your body.
Capable when something feels unfamiliar.
Surfing has a way of revealing your edges.
Doing it alongside women who are cheering you on changes everything.
This isn’t just about catching waves.
It’s about walking away trusting yourself more.

“Being a part of a Sister Surf surf camp is like finding the family that you didn’t know you had. In my case, younger sisters:) I was surrounded by absolutely cool like-minded women who want to learn to surf better but also want to have fun and not take it too seriously. It is a low pressure environment, so if you want to recover a bit from paddling out, no worries. Or if you want to charge the waves, go for it! Coco and Chelsea will be there giving great pointers and encouragement. What I really liked was the discussions on the water about how every surf day is different and some days are truly magical but others days not so much:) Also, the video sessions were super helpful as well in pointing out the little details that together add up to real improvement in catching and riding waves.”
At Sister Surf & Yoga Retreat, we create a playful, safe space where encouragement matters more than perfection. We teach technique, yes, but we also teach trust — trust in the ocean, in your body, and in the circle of women beside you. Seeing someone move from fear to flow, from doubt to stoke, is what makes every surf session worth it.
If you’re ready to push a little, laugh a lot, and find out what your next surf breakthrough feels like, come join us. We’ll be right there — cheering, guiding, and sharing the stoke.
